Raised on a cattle and horse ranch in Senlac, Saskatchewan, Ash Cooper was immersed in the cowboy way of life from an early age. Everyone in his family is very humorous; so it was expected that Ash, the youngest of four children, would grow up to be Crash, a professional rodeo clown. Most of the year finds him traveling and performing all over the west. "By the time the end of the rodeo season rolls around, I'm usually banged up enough that I can appreciate the rest," the artist explains. "By rest, I mean sitting in my studio and feverishly working on artwork. By the time spring rolls around I'm usually going shack-wacky and I'm ready to hit the road again.

I really just enjoy making people laugh, whether it's in a rodeo arena or on paper."
